Exemplary Policy

November 1, 2020

Recently the New Education Policy was announced by the GOI Government of India.  Before framing the policy, the suggestions were invited from the intellectuals, think tanks and premier educational institutions in India. After evaluating the feasibility of the implementation, the education policy was made public. Most of the policies have been revised but among all the education policy is the most important. The current education policy is going to decide the future of India. The future of India is going to decide the future of other core sectors that will impact the industry and overall, the economy of India. Country is known by its superior Human Resource. Currently, the USA is superior because it has the capability to absorb the best talent from all over the world. The country next to USA is People’s Republic of China that has the potential to become the next hub for the higher global education. Currently, the students in large quantities from India and China migrate to USA to live their Great American Dream, to earn dollars and settle in USA. Not only USA, people migrate to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United Kingdom and other European countries such as France and Germany to pursue better career. Therefore, the education offered in the above-mentioned countries can be considered exemplary.  However, we need to understand why do we give so much recognition to these countries and the answer lies into their school education.

Demography Factor:
The education policy in foreign countries suits the demography of the people living there. Every country has a different demography in terms of language, environment, culture and so on and so forth. The demography is a deciding factor. When we try to give Western education to the eastern countries, then its analogical to the idiom, ‘Square peg into round hole”. Every country wants to achieve monopoly by popularising its own culture and language. Britishers ruled all the Commonwealth countries and now majority of these countries are English Speaking nations. This fact has immensely benefitted the Britishers. Indirectly they have created cheap English-Speaking labourers working in the call centres in India.  Similarly, the Chinese were adamant and denied to adopt the English language and that’s the reason, India leads into the exports of IT ITES services. If China would have adopted to the English language, we would have never gained the lion’s share in the IT ITES industry. But it’s worth knowing that despite the loss of its share in the IT ITES industry, as per the latest reports, Chinese is one of the most sought languages in Bangalore in the recent time, more than Japanese. Though China suffered some temporary loss, in the long run it will definitely win the race. The way students prepare for Language Proficiency Test in English, similarly after few years the students will prepare for Chinese language test. Local languages and dialects ae losing their touch and essence as we are leaving our roots to adapt with a different language, different culture and last but not the least different education system. Therefore, it is good news that Sanskrit will get its due position in the education system in India. Fundamental and concept learning will take place in the regional language/mother tongue.
