Essential Skills that Successful Students Pursuing BBA LLB Degree Have

September 1, 2022 A BBA LLB degree can open doorways for a career in corporate law, company governance, company law,  finance and mergers and acquisitions.  The BBA LLB degree programme is designed to help you to gain a deep understanding of management studies and law. It is important to note that besides your knowledge of the law and management, potential employers look for candidates with a specific mix of skills. Here  we share with you the essential skills that you need to have while pursuing a BBA LLB degree:
  1. Communication skills:
You will need to speak in client meetings, settlement negotiations and mediations when you become a lawyer. For this, it is important that you hone your public speaking skills. You can do this by pro-actively taking part in class presentations.  Besides speaking well, it is important to listen attentively to understand and process complex information.  You must also develop good writing skills that will come in handy in clearly and concisely preparing legal briefs and documents.
  1. Presentation skills:
To be successful in the law field, you need to learn how to present your ideas confidently. If you want to improve your presentation skills it is important to research background information for your topic.  You must understand the content of the presentation in an interesting and engaging way. Use slides, videos and graphics to retain the attention of the audience.
  1. Research skills:
The ability to find and use relevant information is crucial to developing strong arguments. Furthermore, you must be able to evaluate the quality of sources and use them appropriately. There are many ways to improve research skills, but one of the most effective is to practice regularly. By setting aside time each week to search for and use information, you can hone your skills and become more successful in your studies.
  1. Negotiation skills:
Negotiation is a process of communication between two or more parties with the goal of reaching an agreement. It is an essential skill for you as a law student, as you often negotiate on behalf of your clients. From contract negotiations to mergers and acquisitions, you must be able to effectively communicate and reach mutually beneficial agreements. In addition, the ability to negotiate is often critical to success in the courtroom. However, it is also a valuable skill for all of you, as it can help you to resolve conflicts and reach compromises.
  1. Critical thinking:
The nature of the BBA LLB coursework encourages you to think independently and to develop your own opinions on complex legal issues. In addition, the practical experience that you gain through internships and legal aid clinics gives you an opportunity to put your critical thinking to the test in a real-world setting.
  1. Organisational skills:
When you enter the professional world, it’s important to prioritise different tasks. From handling client records to attending meetings, there will be a lot on the platter. That’s why it’s essential to develop a good organisational system from the beginning. Make sure you are ahead of deadlines by keeping track of assignments, due dates and examination schedule. . This could include using a planner or calendar, setting up reminders on your phone or even just making lists.
