International Conference on Environmental Governance

International Conference on Environmental Governance

February 25, 2023

Over the course of time, laws, rules, procedures, and regulatory measures have been made to become increasingly stringent. Because of political, social, economic, administrative, and capacity factors, these laws, rules, procedures, and regulatory measures fall far short of their goals and objectives. It is generally accepted that environmental performance has not kept up with the rate of growth in a way that is sustainable, despite the fact that the government has taken a lot of positive steps in this direction.

When it comes to tackling climate change on both a national and international scale, India is among the most forward-thinking nations. In the last four years, many state and national clean and green development projects have been finished. This has helped fight climate change and adapt to it in a big way. A number of new policies and initiatives in various fields, such as e-mobility, green transportation, renewable energy, waste management, reforestation, water, etc., have also been introduced to minimize the impact of climate change.

The conference’s goal is to provide a broad multi-sectoral approach to environmental protection and conservation that advocates for its consideration in other policy concerns (for example, trade, transportation, agriculture, human security, national security, and so on). This approach will advocate for the consideration of environmental protection in various policy areas, using a variety of methodologies and starting from a variety of areas of priority.

Papers are invited for the themes mentioned below:

  2. Climate change and its impact
  3. Preservation, protection, and conservation of the environment

Environmental conservation is facing complex, non-linear, and cross-scale challenges against the background of global environmental change, and it is of great importance to have a clear recognition of environmental governance. The rules, practices, policies, and institutions that shapes human's interaction with the environment are referred to as environmental governance. Good environmental governance takes into account the roles of everyone who affects the environment. Human societies must alter their course and avoid critical tipping points that could result in rapid and irreversible change while also ensuring sustainable livelihoods for all. The urgent challenge from a social science perspective is how to organize the co-evolution of societies and their surrounding environment, or, in other words, how to develop effective and equitable governance solutions for today's global problems. Mechanisms, both institutional and non-institutional, for ensuring that the long-term sustenance of environmental resources is not hampered in any way, therefore assume a greater importance. Institutions include both government and non-government organizations.
