Business Cricket Tournament

25th September – 29th September

In order to provide students with something more than academics, under the guidance of Dean and Professor Dr Shamsher Ali, UWSB’s core body organized a cricket tournament – Business Cricket League. As Sir had rightly mentioned that the game of cricket can help develop critical skills like leadership, teamwork, handling pressure, succession planning, resource management, consistency and discipline.

The faculty in charge for this event was Dr. Gunjan Sood and the student head for the event was Aryan Mishra. To make the students aware of the event, Google Forms were floated well in advance with brief explanation of the event and with this form; all the students had access to register their teams. All the rules were set in consultation with Raees Sir (sports head of the university) who also helped in the overall management of the matches held during the entire tournament.

The tournament lasted for five days from 25th September to 29th September. The matches were conducted in the second half of the day 2pm to 5 pm at North Extension Campus Ground.

The event was open for the students of all semesters of UWSB. There were 24 teams that registered themselves for the competition from different semesters. Each team was allowed to have 8 members in their team. It was mandatory for all the teams to have at least 3 girls on the team. The registration fees for the event was a nominal amount of INR 300 per team.

5 matches of 6 overs were played everyday. UWSB core body along with various volunteers managed the smooth functioning of the event. On 29th September the final match took place and the teams from semester 1 won the tournament. The esteemed Dean Sir felicitated the winners along with the runners-up with trophies, medals and certificates.
