The Unitedworld School of Liberal Arts and Mass Communication recently hosted a public lecture by Rajya Sabha MP and senior journalist Dr. Swapan Dasgupta. He is a top public intellectual, a deeply invested scholar and journalist, with over thirty-five years of experience in print and the electronic media. The lecture was based on his recently released book “Awakening Bharat Mata: Political beliefs of the Hindu Right’, is titled ‘Reclaiming the Nation: The Challenge to India’s Right’.
The talk focused on a brief history of the ideas which animate right-wing politics in India today, and then explored the political, cultural and policy level challenges before the Indian right as a political ideology and practice, followed by questions and answers session. Students enthusiastically engaged themselves in the discussions. Also, many esteemed personalities attended the program.
