Expert Law Series with Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Raina

With the ninth edition of ‘Expert Lecture Series’, Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar has organised the special lecture on “Legal Aspects of Crime and Criminal Justice System: Contemporary Issues and Challenges” on March 11 and March 12, 2019.

The expert of the ninth edition ‘Expert Lecture Series’ is Prof. (Dr.) S.C. Raina, the founding Vice Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh National Law University and the former Dean of Faculty of Law, Delhi University. He is having a vast teaching experience of more than 35 years.

The theme of today’s lecture was “Rights of accused per-during- & post trial” and “Victims Rights Jurisprudence in India.

Lecture covered various areas of criminal law jurisprudence and was divided into five topics which are as follows-

  1. Rights of Accused before the trial, during the trial and after the trial
  2. Evolution of Victims rights jurisprudence in India
  3. Comparative analysis of Witness protection programme in US, UK, Germany, China and India
  4. Analysis of Supreme Court judgment on Section 377 of Indian Penal Code, 1860
  5. Analysis of Supreme Court judgment on Section 497 of Indian Penal Code, 1860
