Faculty Development Programme 2023

The discussion at hand at this year’s FDP revolves around The National Educational Policy 2020 which aims to transform India by providing high-quality and experience-based learning to the youth.

The faculties discussed how a teacher can facilitate experiential learning and how knowledge, skill and attitude are key drivers of one’s cognitive abilities.

A team-building activity kept the faculties on their toes and enabled them to promote problem-solving skills The first two days of FDP remained quite insightful and productive, all in all.

Faculty Development Programme :- Education Institutions – Making Students learn from Creative Communities

We were honoured to welcome Padma Shri Professor Anil K. Gupta at Faculty Development Programme for “Education Institutions – Making Students learn from Creative Communities.”

In his session he emphasised on the fact that students can be great changemakers of society and it is upon educational institutions to fuel their capacities to explore.

Faculty Development Programme :- Interior Design Department ( UID )

Dimensional Dialogues: An Exploration in Compound Surfaces

The first day marked the start of a  new understanding of dimensions and frameworks with furniture designer Mann Singh as a part of FDP.

The second day has been a complete amalgamation of fusing surface formation.

Exploring and learning about applications through machines, and material strengths was the key outcome of the 2-Day FDP.

Faculty Development Programme :- Unitedworld School of Liberal Arts and Mass Communication 

The Faculty Development Programme, 2023 organized for the Unitedworld School of Liberal Arts and Mass Communication (USLM) saw experts from diverse fields interacting with faculty members over the National Education Policy 2020, and brainstorming over ways and means to implement the policy at multiple levels by engaging various stakeholders. The intensive FDP sessions ranged from inculcation of Indic value systems to learnings about leadership and role of communication, among others. At the end of the FDP, USLM faculty members presented their key learnings and insights, and plans of action for implementation of experiential learning.

Faculty Development Programme 2023 :- Department of Industrial Design (Day One)

IIT Guwahati’s Department of Design Professor A.K. Das led the first day’s Faculty Development Programme. Professor A.K. Das described his doctorate journey to the faculty members. He elaborately discussed his contribution for the Eri Silk Weavers of Assam and explained the importance of social innovation and the significance of doctoral design theses.

Faculty members from the Automobile and Transport Design, Interaction Design, and Product Design faculties participated in the faculty development programme ,that focussed on the outcome of area identification and developing research needs and research gap for those subject areas.

By the end of the session Professor Das discussed research area, need and gaps ,identified by faculties . He equipped faculties with his own experience ,insight and his feedback on their topic of research to foster stronger research culture.

Faculty Development Programme 2023 :- Department of Industrial Design (Day Two)

Day Two of the Faculty Development Programme was Conducted by Dr. Tarun Kumar who has completed his doctoral thesis from IISC Banglore .

Dr. Tarun Kumar trained faculties of Department of Industrial Design on importance of wholistic knowledge and assimilation of design for Artificial Intelligence . He conducted ‘hands-on’ workshop for faculties of Department of Industrial Design on utilising diverse data modelling and Artificial Intelligence tools.

Dr. Tarun Kumar conducted Hands On workshop on data mining and data sets to create models for Artificial Intelligence ,faculties explored the utility of teachable machines and tested AI models.
