Lets Commemorate our Traditions, 2019

Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University under the aegis of The Centre for Human Rights and Migration and The Students Club from The Romanian-American University in Bucharest, as a part of the 4th edition of the international project “Together Empowering All Women” – an online event, organised “LETS COMMEMORATE OUR TRADITIONS” in view of the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2019. Three activities were carried out as a part of the campaign: Poster making competition; Topical Display of Books on Women and Books of the Women Authors; and celebration of the occasion in the cultural attire.
The Campaign was conducted as a voluntary activity of Unitedworld School of Law, Karnavati University as a part of the extension and support to create International Online Environment Project as envisioned by The Romanian-American University in Bucharest, Romania.
The Campaign was initiated by Prof. (Dr.) Debarati Halder & Mr. Shrut Brahmbhatt, Assistant Professor (Law); convened by Prof. Nityanand Jha, Assistant Professor (Management); coordinated by Ms. Riddhi Upadhyay, Programme Officer; Ms. Snehal and Mr. Vijay as Library Coordinators; Mr. Markand Trivedi & Mr. Miral Salunke as Student Coordinators.
The campaign witnessed strong participation from the students of the law school. The ‘Poster Making Competition’ was participated by 29 teams consisting of 56 students of 1st & 2nd year of the Law School. Students celebrated this International Women’s day through art expressing their feelings in the form of quotations, paintings, sketch etc. on the theme ‘Women Empowerment: Socio-legal, political and historic view”. The Objective of the competition was to sensitize the participants about women’s status rights and challenges in the community. The result of the competition is as below:

Consolation Prizes: 1. Pragya Bokadiya, Damini Chauhan, Aishwarya Mathew – Semester II, 2. Palak Mehta, Om Patel, Pooja Dhruve – Semester III, and 3. Harshika Mehta – Semester II.

Prof. (Dr.) Saroj Bohra, HoD, felicitated and congratulated all the winners. In her speech she mentioned that empowering women in India is very necessary and that gender equality is very necessary for woman empowerment. 8th March is celebrated every year recognizing & appreciating women’s political, social & economical achievements over the year. This year (2019) official U.N. theme ‘Think equal, Build smart, Innovate for change, she said it put innovation by women, for women at the heart of efforts to achieve gender equality.
In motivation of the books authored for the women and women authorship a Topical Display of Books on Women and Books of the Women Authors was conducted in the UWSL Library. The Display could be made of in total 29 books written on women and 320 books authored by women.
The entire campaign was participated by almost 160 students of the law school in cultural attire to showcase respect for the women endowed by the ancient Indian culture.
