PGDM batch 2019-21

PGDM batch 2019-21

The inaugural ceremony for PGDM batch 2019-21 was witnessed by more than 160 students, faculty members, guests and esteemed dignitaries today. The ceremony began by invoking blessings from Goddess Saraswati followed by a welcome speech from the Director-UWSB Mr. Sanjeev Jain. His address was infused with audiovisuals to inspire the new batch.

The special address by Mr. Jaideep Banerjee (Director – Outreach Programs & Placement Cell, Karnavati University) was full of enthusiasm and kind words. He emphasised how aspiring students should drive themselves and bring in the change to become a modern-day business professional through holistic development and acquiring relevant skill in a globalized world. Mr. Banerjee, who played an anchor role and has always been an integral part of the exciting journey of UWSB, shared his experiences with the students. He urged students to have very high self-esteem because that will help them to maintain their confidence level.

As one of the best B-Schools in India, UWSB will provide aspiring management students with the best of everything, be it infrastructure, course curriculum or placement opportunities. However, it will depend upon them how they will utilize this strong platform to build their path to success, Mr. Banerjee added.

It was a privilege to have Dr. Ankur Sarin (A member of the faculty in the Public Systems Group- IIM-A) as the Chief Guest who talked about the Right to Education and it’s importance. He discussed how teamwork and perseverance is the key to success. Guest of Honour Mr. Vishal Sharma infused the ‘josh’ with his power-packed address to the students where he guided the freshers on the new corporate life that’s getting ready for them on the other side.

The ceremony was rounded off by Dr. Kishore Bhanushali with a vote of thanks. He extended a special thanks to the guests, faculties, students & the parents. The ceremony was concluded with National Anthem and a group photograph.

The second half of the day began with some successful alumni speakers who spoke on a variety of topics and motivated the new batch of students by sharing their exciting stories of success.

Priyansh Satija (currently working with Arvind Mills handling exports for over 9 countries), Athar Ali (currently working with Dine out, managing more than 300 restaurants pan Gujarat), Mansi Ghosh (social media and communications expert at Sekhani Industries), and Gaurav Bhatt (handling Cafe Coffee Day Govt. accounts such as Army, PSU’s and many more) gave the aspiring management students an overview of the corporate world.

The session was followed by a presentation from the CSD dept. and wrapped up with a presentation from the student’s council dept.

On the second day of the UWSB PGDM Induction Program, it was time for some learning through fun-filled TEAM BUILDING activity under the mentorship of Prof. Bhupinder Arora.

The newly joined students were divided into groups and given tasks like- Elect a Team Leader, coin a team name, create a team flag, create a team anthem, and present in front of a jury panel.

They explained what their team represents, why did they choose a specific branding for their team and how they worked together to come up with unique and impactful ideas to establish their team as the best.

In the second half of the day, students participated in a roundtable discussion with the faculty in groups. The topics of discussion were varied, ranging from what their expectations are, their strengths & weaknesses, what are their goals, future plans etc.

The third day of the UWSB Induction Programme for the 11th batch of PGDM students started with lots of fervour as the aspiring management students were pumped up to play some unique management games. There were 7 teams competing as boat building companies serving leisure tourism. Members from yesterday’s winning teams from the Team Building activity were given non-competitive roles such as domestic customer, international customer, agents, banker, registrar etc. Teams had to build boats to order.

The winning team maximized revenue with minimal inventory within a restricted time window. The CEO and CFO of one team were jailed (not really!) for failing to submit accounts in due time. The game was led by Assistant Professor Bhupinder Arora and supported by other esteemed faculty members.

On the fourth day of Induction Program, UWSB students experienced a life changing motivational session by Yogendra Singh Rathore, who is a motivational speaker, entrepreneur, Life Coach and NLP practitioner.

Students learned the new paradigms of success and happiness which will help them to become better professionals of tomorrow. Students were overwhelmed by the entire experience.

On the fourth day of the PGDM Induction Program, UWSB students learned the nitty-gritty of Fire Safety Management and the session was led by Dr. Mahavir Nimavat who is an officer in command for Quick Response Team and Field Operations.

Dr. Nimavat gave hands-on experience to use Fire Safety Extinguishers and this helped students to learn nuances with the rising need for Fire Safety. Students were happy to know the innovative ways to escape from fire and other natural calamities during the time of exigency.

On the sixth day of the PGDM Induction Programme, Mr Achal Rangaswamy delivered an electrifying, fun-filled, and motivational session for the aspiring management students. He is an eminent sales guru and a popular author of the following books: Discovering the joy of selling, Staying Inspired!, Beyond the uncharted landscape and Time is Money.

Mr Achal Rangaswamy has won several accolades from Industry experts of National repute.
His life lessons changed the thought process of many, moreover, it was a pleasurable experience for the students interacting with him.
