1. He coined the terms “introverted” and “extraverted”: It was 1921, when Jung published his theory on extraverts and introverts. He believed that introverts gain energy from such encounters while introverts focus their energy inwards, towards more solitary and thoughtful activities.
2. He thought he was two people: Interestingly, Jung identified himself as two persons within himself. He called them No. 1 and No. 2. A loner as a child, Jung believed that the No. 1 was the child of his parents and times. No. 2 was a timeless individual with no definable character. His thoughts on two personalities provided the basis for his ideas on ego and self.
3. He came with the theory of complex: Jung was among the first to come with the theory of complex. He believed that a complex is a collection of thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and memories that focus on a single concept. This theory he developed when he was at an asylum, where he noticed that patients had different reactions to certain words. Those reactions drove Jung to explore the idea of a “complex.”
4. He wrote a book on UFOs: While Jung’s contribution to the field of psychology is well-known. What is not known is that he wrote a book titled Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies, in 1958. Interestingly, the book was more about the human mind than whether the aliens actually existed or not.  Jung explored what drives the human mind to entertain the idea of aliens.
5. He collaborated with Nobel-winning physicist: The fact that Jung and Sigmund Freud were good friends (though the friendship was short-lived) is not surprising given that the two developed theories together and had mutual affinity for each other. Jung had an “unlikely friendship” with theoretical physicist Wolfgang Pauli. For years, the two exchanged correspondence on the nature of reality through the dual lens of physics and psychology.
