‘Stay Safe Online’ Workshop

Unitedworld School of Law Karnavati University , supported by UNICEF organized Pre-Seminar workshop ‘Stay Safe Online’ for children between age group of 10-17. This workshop was part of the upcoming national seminar on Online Child Protection scheduled on June22-23. organized by UWSL, Karnavati university with supported by UNICEF and other Govt agencies like Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, Gujarat State Legal Services Commission, Cyber Crime Cell and Gujarat Child Protection Society.    

In the workshop which was moderated by Ms. Preeti Das, Assistant Director, USLM participants were encouraged to share their views on risky online behaviours and also on positive and negative aspects of social media, online gaming, online shopping, whatsapp related security issues. Ms. Preeti organized fun activities to introduce the theme to all participants. Prof (Dr.) Debarati Halder, UWSL also held session on online child protection wherein she shared information about types of cyber-crimes targeted to children,  cyber bullying, how children may be groomed to be victims of child pornography,  sextortion and revenge porn,  why online gaming may be dangerous for children,  how to be safe from internet paedophiles etc., she also apprised the students about how to report online crimes against children,  how to approach the police,  1098 etc the participants  children were also introduced briefly to the laws which prescribes specific types of cyber-crimes. The event ended with group picture and distribution of goodies by UNICEF.
