Masterclass by Mr Rishav Jain

School of Interior Design, UID had organised a Masterclass by Mr Rishav Jain on March 29, 2022.

Rishav Jain, Assistant Professor and Program Chair for Master of Design(interiors) and IMIAD at the faculty of Design and a Research expert at DICRC, CEPT, Ahmedabad, conducted a masterclass on “Traditions and Modernity: Craft and Design in India”, for the Interior Department.

He initiated a dialogue on the position of ‘Craft’, ‘Craftspeople’ and ‘Design’ in the Indian context. He took us through the discourse of craft along the timeline of the historical, social and academic context.

Prof.Jain focused on craft being the ‘mainstream’ of India in both academics and practice. Students also had an informal interactive session with Prof. Jain at CCI along with the artisans. It was a very engaging and interactive session followed by discussions and dialogues with students.
