Webinar on Advocacy and Legal Writing Skills in Fordham Law School

On 16th  November 2021, a webinar was arranged for the 4th  and 5th  year law students to provide assistance to seeking to pursue LL.M. Karnavati University has collaborated with Fordham Law School, an information session was organized by Fordham Law School (LL.M.) and Legal English Institute (LEI). The session was led by Dr. Laura Shields, she addressed the gathering and invited Martin Slavens, Director of Graduate Admissions and Anthony Agolia, Director office of International and Non-J.D. Programs. Meanwhile, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Rajesh S. addressed the gathering and expressed the gratitude towards the collaboration of Karnavati University and Fordham Law School. Pro V.C. encouraged and motivated the students to have good chance to explore the new areas of law such as Fashion Law and Realestate Law.

Mr. Martin Slavens, Director of Graduate Admissions, showed courtesy towards Karnavati University for the information session, then he invited students to pursue LL.M. at Fordham Law School by conveying that Fordham Law is a vibrant, collaborative and diverse community of dedicated faculty and engaged, hands on students who are working together to master the law, understand its role in advancing justice, and make sure that justice is accessible to all.

Hon’ble Dean, Dr. P Lakshmi acknowledged the dignitaries from Fordham Law School and expressed the brief introduction of UWSL and uplifted the students to pursue LL.M.

Mr. Anthony Agolia, Director office of International and Non-J.D. Programs, focused on student advisement, career planning and job search strategies and graduate study program development initiatives, then he expressed the approach of Fordham Law School which combines a grounding in enduring legal principles along with emerging theories, techniques, and technologies.

Furthermore, Martin Slavens, during the session focused on LL.M. and other degree programs offered at Fordham Law School such as J.D., LL.M. online & in-person, M.S.L. Masters for Non-Lawyers, S.J.D. and expressed non-degree programs as Legal English Institute (LEI) and Summer Institute. After that, Mr. Martin  Slavens  conveyed  the  students  for  pursuing  LL.M.  into  year  long program starting from January to December and August to May. He highlighted that 150 student from 40+ countries regularly pursue LL.M. program from Fordham Law School with specialization in 9 different degrees.

Thereafter, Mr. Anthony Agolia introduce the specialization courses to the audience such as Fashion Law, Intellectual Property, International Trade, International Business, U.S. Law (also available online) and these are flexible programs to pursue at Fordham Law School. He highlighted the 36 credits which are accredited to the students pursuing LL.M., subject to the completion of the particular specialization of the course.

Additionally, he focused upon special courses tailored to foreign-trained LL.M. students, the students are introduced to U.S. Legal system and Legal profession. Mr. Martin and Mr. Anthony, pinnacle the LL.M. at Fordham Law School as the program designed for foreign-trained lawyers and law students who intend to sit for New York Bar Examination. Altogether, there is a G.P.D.P (Graduate Professional Development Program) which focuses on theory, skills and professional network. Dr. Laura Shields invited students for pursuing LL.M. program and Legal English at Fordham Legal English Institute (FLEI), she conveyed about Summer Institute Fordham Law School which is scheduled on 5th July to 4thAugust 2022. 

At the end of the session, the students from semester 9, UWSL, asked the query about scholarships offered by Fordham Law School, credit points for specialization subjects and work permit after pursuing LL.M. at New York. All the queries were answered by Mr. Martin Slavens and Mr. Anthony Agolia. Mr. Rahul  Bhandari,  Director  of  International  Relations,  Karnavati  University offered the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and encouraged the students at UWSL to pursue LL.M. accordingly with good conscience.
