Can you believe that most of the celebrated cricketers from Gujarat decided to stay away from voting in the General Elections 2019?
As reported in various media publications, most cricketers from Gujarat preferred the cash-rich franchise cricket tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL) over casting their vote on the elections that were held on April 23, 2019 in Gujarat.
Barring genius Test cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, not a single cricketer — Ravindra Jadeja (Chenai Super Kings), cricketing brothers Hardik Pandya and Krunal (both Mumbai Indians), Yusuf Pathan (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Parthiv Patel (Royal Chalegers Bangalore) – from Gujarat could turn up to cast their vote, courtesy hectic IPL-2019 schedule.
On Hardik and Krunal Pandya voting, their father had told a newspaper that they are both playing IPL and “hence it won’t be possible for them to travel to the city for just a day.”
Jagat Patel, Parthiv Patel’s uncle, confirmed to a section of the media that the cricketer will not vote.
