How to prepare for the entrance exams required for admission to BA LLB programs?

BA LL.B Hons. is one of the most popular courses in India and a lot of law aspirants enrol into this course right after their +2 years. It includes an interdisciplinary study of arts combined with the legal study of legislation. The course is taught for five years after which a degree is conferred upon the students who complete the course successfully. If you are planning to pursue BA LL.B Hons. and preparing for entrance exams to land a place in your dream college, here are some things you need to consider:

  1. Time management
To excel in your BA LLB entrance exams, it is important to possess fundamental time management skills as a student. Effective time management is crucial in any competitive exam, as it helps you allocate sufficient time for each subject. By following a set schedule, you will have enough time to study every topic thoroughly, analyse questions, and practise extensively. Additionally, efficient time management during the exam is beneficial since it allows you to allocate the appropriate amount of time to each question and avoid getting stuck. This approach enables you to complete the paper on time, reduce stress, and tackle the questions with ease
  2. Know your syllabus
You need to have a clear understanding of the syllabus that you are set to approach and complete for the entrance exam. Some of the common subjects that you need to prepare for cracking the entrance exam include: English, logical reasoning, current affairs, and legal aptitude. You need to focus on each subject and build your knowledge base for this exam accordingly. Once you know the subjects, you will find it easier to navigate through the syllabus. You can handle complex topics better.
  3. Plan a study schedule
Before you start studying for your exams, you need to prepare a study schedule for yourself. This schedule should optimise your time and enable you to carry on with other routine activities. An ideal study schedule should divide the chapters of the subjects into simpler units. You need to make sure that you are keeping in touch with all the subjects on a regular basis. For instance you need to practise maths and english on a daily basis, along with widening your knowledge on current affairs. You can use different mediums of study such as sample papers, online mock tests and prepare your own study materials.
  4. Make  notes
While studying you need to make side notes such as important points, basic formulas, names of propounders and key dates and events. You can jot down these points on a small note pad that you can access later on during revisions. You can also use sticky notes that you can attach to the important pages of your textbooks and study materials. Go through these points repeatedly so you can memorise and retain the information.
  5. Know your strengths and weaknesses
While preparing for the entrance tests, you need to drive your strengths in your favour. Additionally, you need to overcome your weaknesses so you do not lose out marks based on avoidable mistakes during the exams.  Having a clear idea of your own strengths and weaknesses helps you build on your strong areas and pay more attention to the weaker areas. For instance it is easier for you to brush up on topics that you are already familiar with. However, new and complex topics will need more hard work.
  6. Practise mock tests and revise
Practise solving mock question papers so you can effectively manage time. There are tons of mock test papers available online. It can help you improve your problem solving techniques and enhance your speed, accuracy and confidence. You can also solve previous year question papers to understand the question patterns. Moreover, you need to revise your study materials regularly. This will help you remember the important concepts and go through the small details. Make weekly revision schedules so you can also track your progress.
