In a recent development, the World Bank has refused to mediate between India and Pakistan in the case of water dispute between both the nations. The World Bank has refused to appoint neutral expert or a court of arbitrator to settle water dispute between both the nations. The request was made by Pakistan to appoint a neutral arbitrator. The reasons for refusal to mediate are not known. The India and Pakistan have made Indus Waters Treaty in the year 1960 for water sharing agreement between both the nations. However, on multiple occasions, since 1960 Water Treaty, there have been disputes between both the nations regarding water sharing. Pakistan has blamed India for not sharing water with India as per the 1960 Water Sharing Agreement.
