At present if you ask an Indian which season it is, winter, summer, monsoon, the answer will be it’s a marriage season. Thousands of people around are getting married, and there is always something new and trending every time. Wherever my eyes shift – be it on roads or on social media, I see some other person (be it a friend, relative, acquaintance or some celebrity) is getting married. In India, marriages are like an industry as they generate revenue to the nation, give employment to people including the wedding planners, pandits, costume designers, make up artists, photographers, singers, caterors, hotels, and many more to the list. Marriages also contribute to the income of tourism industry as a marriage is not limited to the seven pheras and tying the knot but is also followed by a honeymoon. We might think that doing a big fat wedding is a waste of money but, is it true? What will happen to so many agencies and their employees if people stop spending money on marriages? Think about it!
