Virtual applause to the class 2020. No one ever thought that this is how the graduation would be held. But here we are.
In this scenario, taking inspiration from two leaders: Mr. Sundar Pichai (Google CEO) and Mr. Barack Obama (Former US President), will definitely boost up the spirits for the graduates.
In his virtual speech, Mr. Sundar Pichai mentioned about the three crises- first was a deadly pandemic in 1920, second in1970- the midst of Vietnam War, and then in 2001- the 9/11. During these entire crises they prevailed. Because, he mentions- progression of one generation becomes the foundation of the next generation. Summarizing his journey to being the CEO at Google, he endeavored to convey his point of profoundly pursuing the dreams and passion, which he said for him was Technology. He concluded his speech with the idea to – Be Open, Be Impatient, and Be Hopeful!
The Former-US President Mr. Barack Obama spoke to the batch of 2020 about not being cynical. He said that this pandemic made each one realize that it does not matter what you are earning if people around you are hungry and sick. So, society and democracy work only when we don’t think about ourselves, but about each other. Mr. Obama said that is where every individual becomes strong, living with values to build a community. Further, he strongly pointed to leave behind all the ways that divide mankind – greed, race, sex, and join hands in finding ways to unite. He concluded that the 2020 batch will grow up faster with new perspective amidst the pandemic, saying, “Now, you are the generation to shape the world.”
Ending here, class 2020; let you all be remembered for- Change you will bring to the World in its new way of thinking, and not for what you lost!
