A Lull in the Ivory Tower

The tranquil pond
With the little boy’s statue
Smiling at them all.

The vessel flies high
Carrying the dreams of youth
In this lush green realm.

Pupils and masters
Hop about tree stumps merry
T’where the clock turns round.

Prancing on pancakes
Where thespian glories thrive
A spectacle for all.

The Old Gods and New
Welcoming wandering wisps
Seeking asylum.

A vast land of jade
Where shouts, fears and tears abound
Dreaded balls and calls.

A strident corner
Hammers sound and lovers gather
Aloof from sunshine.

Halls in great clamour
With the sound of spoons and forks
Chewing down on sorrows.

A myriad aether
Clouds of all sorts gather around
Spewing teal torrent.

Winding roads slither
Curious canines gallivant
Unsheltered from rain.

Amidst the dark sky
Cometh a rainbow mighty
Dazzling ray of hope.

Lest the gold pot spill
The rainbow dispels all grey
To a bright tomorrow.

Monochrome no more
It intends to stay this way
Never once to cease.

Whence the colours curbed
A deep longing to return
To rhythm of birds.

Balance of no life
The silence in stark contrast
To troubled harmony.

Growing dust and webs
This abode of discovery
Awaits their return.
