Aatma-Nirbhar Student for Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat

India is youngest nation, with highest proportion of young population. When other developed countries of the world are facing problem of ‘aging’, India is emerging as young nation, capable to take leadership role in global economic order. Demographic dividend that is enjoyed by India will be there for next 30 to 40 years. The question to be addressed is how to take maximum benefit of this opportunity. It time for India to leverage on this unique opportunity, which require strategic action towards skill development of young population in order to make them more employable , skillful, creative and innovative. 21st Century skills cannot be taught in the classroom environment only. It is very important for student to become Aatma-Nribhar.

Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat is vision for making India self-reliant nation. The mission should not be taken in the sense of cutting off from rest of the world, rather it means greater global integration but no dependence on any other country for national requirement.

At micro level success of Aatma-Nirbhar Bharat depend on Aatma-Nirbhar Student. The philosophy of Aatma-Nirbhar (self-reliance) should be imbibe in the education system and mindset of students, parents and teachers. Students need to be self-reliance in terms of their teaching and learning process. Classroom learning is one small aspect of their broader leaning process. Lot of learning can take place outside the class, provided one is ready for the same. New education policy recently announced by government also focuses on creating an environment of learning which is more towards skill development rather than mugging up for getting marks.

The process of becoming Aatma-Nirbhar student will surely start from classroom where initial interaction between teacher and students takes place. Classroom learning is foundation, where you study concepts and theories related to subject. But most of the time students stops at that point only, focusing only on classroom teaching which more syllabus is focused. You need to learn the process of application of concepts and theories in real life, personal and professions. You should not depend on anyone for learning process. Using available resources at your disposal start the learning process, and take help from your teachers and mentors.

What is more important is to decide your life goal and start your self-learning process in that direction.
