Diwali 2020: An Oxymoron

What an oxymoron Diwali 2020 had been. Diwali is about celebrations and family and friends and firecrackers teamed with lots of ghee-laden sweets and pretty festive outfits. While 2020 is a dull and dark year in the history of mankind. With more than a thousand and half cases in Ahmedabad alone, Diwali was surely a concern for the entire nation. More people have died due to the virus in a year as compared to the number of elephants and tigers illegally poached in the country. Somehow this is only going to make the animals happier if they read this. Imagine Peter the rabbit and Bambi meeting on a patch of lush green and catching up on the human race while nibbling the new greens. Each talking about what a relief it has been since a few months; earlier the humans hunted the animals or the animals attacked the humans but the panoramic world view has shifted a few plates and the humans are unknowingly attacking the other humans and hunting them down, lowering the carbon footprint. Such a lottery win for the jungle residents! Certainly, a linear win for the wild and untamed. Diwali 2020 school essays will comprise of online classes and zoom family celebrations; home cooked sweets and visiting society Covid-19 test centres for free.
