The Interference in the Internal Matters of India: Grave Breach International Law

March 18, 2020

In international life par in parem non habet imperium (an equal have no power over an equal) form the basis of state immunity and sovereignty. As per the Westphalia model of sovereignty, each state is equal and a state has exclusive sovereignty over its territory. Other states are expected not to interfere with the internal matter of a state. However, some of the country, especially Pakistan, Malaysia and Turkey, have been interfering in the internal matters of India at various international and regional forums. Whether it has been the removal of Article 370 of the constitution or enactment of CAA, that is completely internal matter of India, these countries have been spreading the propaganda against India. Being the largest democracy and responsible country in the world, India should not keep mum on such issues. It must raise such issues before the governments of these countries with firm determination that such action of these countries are violation of sovereignty and integrity of India and causes tension in bilateral relations with these countries. Therefore, Government of India should take strict step to counter the fake cry of these countries.
