When Apple & Google Joined Hands to Combat Covid-19…

May 24, 2020

To fight against the global pandemic Covid-19, two giant technology companies (Apple & Google) have joined hands to combat Covid-19 by introducing contact tracing app. Apple & google early in the month of April, 2020 announced that both these tech companies would be putting efforts to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies to reduce the spread of the coronavirus across the globe, with the user privacy and security as the major concern in the design.

Various countries like Germany, UK, Russia, Israel, Singapore, South Korea, India, etc. have build similar apps namely, TraceTogather, Corona 100m, Arogya Setu app, etc. These apps are gaining popularity as they are very helpful, these apps use Bluetooth and location technology to track infected people and notify them about those who were in close proximity to them during past 15 days. It also passes on the notification to the government as well as the Health department about the infections.

This way when a person gets a notification that he has come across a person who was infected, what he can do is isolate himself and get self-quarantined, so that he can prevent the spread in his family members. As this is a pandemic situation and the entire globe is affected, so these giant companies see that there is a huge opportunity and requirement of a trusted and effective product in the market. They would be launching this service somewhere in the mid of May, 2020.
