#BabakaDhaba

April 25, 2021

On 7th October, I was scrolling my twitter feed in the evening. One video caught my attention, in which teary eyed Kanta Prasad, who is 80-years-old, was heartbroken because he was unable to draw customers. Don’t know why but it literally broke my heart and I could not sleep whole night. Only hope I had, was the comments of people from Delhi that they would be visiting Bada ka Dhaba. Next day, in morning first thought came to my mind was, would people really go? But really world is full of nice people. Overnight, the post spiraled into a movement to help Baba. On every news channel and next day in every news-paper, Baba’s story was presented as inspirational tale. Since then, internet is flooded with many such stories. Though all of them did not get as famous as Baba ka Dhaba but heart was hopeful and happy, we are making good use of social media.

Society is full of gems whose ears hear the untold stories and eyes notice the hidden pain. It is high time; we need to open our eyes and ears. If our heart does not cry for those silent eyes, if we do not feel others’ pain, if we do not see many others Baba ka Dhaba around us and do not come forward to offer a helping hand, it means we need to revive humanity inside us. Do not miss countless unnoticed sad eyes with empty stomach. Do not wait for someone to come and shoot another video and post it on social media. Raise your awareness and see what can you do for others? There are plenty of people hoping for some good words or a plate full of meal or just a piece of cloth or a simple smile of face. Help them not because it is your job or someone had put it on social media. Help them because simply you want to. Be more human.

Ronald Reagan, rightly said “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
