Rikimi Madhukaillya has a professional practice of Art History, specializing in modern and contemporary Indian and European art, as well as cultural studies, with a minor in ancient and medieval Indian art, contemporary Assamese culture, and crafts of India. She is having 16 years of academic experience. Her training as researcher took place under the guidance of renowned Indian art professionals. In 2012, she was awarded a residency by ProHelvetia to research Swiss video art, which culminated with the curation of the video lounge at the Kochi Muziris Biennale and India Art Fair. Rikimi has also pursued work as a curator of contemporary art, collaborating with reputed Indian institutions such as the National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi & Bengaluru. She has also curated exhibitions and public programs for private and public galleries & collections, such Kochi Muziris Biennale, India Art Fair, Khoj International Artist Organisation, Osian’s Connoisseurs of Arts, Histare. She together with educationist & theatre director Mrityunjay Prabhakar co-initiated SEHAR-Society for Education, Harmony, Art Culture and Research, a collective of researchers and cultural workers developing artistic and educational projects, with a focus on theatre production.
