Samhita is an Interior Designer, with an active interest in academia and design research. Her freelance practice involves projects ranging from residential and healthcare interiors, graphic design projects of varied scales, development of design strategies and interiors for workplaces for block printing artisans in Kutch in collaboration with NGOs.
She holds a master’s degree in Design (Interior Architecture) from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, UK and her bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from School of Interior Design, CEPT University, Ahmedabad. In her 9 years of practice, she has been involved in academia from the last 6 years. She has taught at various design institutes in Ahmedabad and Mumbai along with serving as a program in charge for B. Voc. Interior Design course at TSAP, Mumbai.
She has worked as a Design Researcher at the Design Innovation & Craft Resource Centre, Ahmedabad. She is co-author of a book named “Road to Resilience” that deals with sustainable daily life practices funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, USA. Following her keen interest in academia and research, she is currently pursuing her PhD in Design Education from Karnavati University, Ahmedabad along with teaching full time at UID for almost a year.
