| Supriya is a designer in the making and a visual artist, with core interest in photography and moving image, and their relationship with research/allied media. Before diving into the world of design, Supriya started her career as a chemical engineer (after her undergraduate degree) and worked in the manufacturing sector for 2 year, understading product development as well as ethnography through the use of photography out of her own interest. Which eventually fruitioned to her being a part of NID, where she finally had the opportunity to work on her collected experience through a design centeric approach and create compelling narratives on socio-cultural systems. In July 2022 she was awarded Artist Residency by Serendipity Arts Foundation in New Delhi – which supproted her work on caste and experience. Here she worked with multiple artists and thinkers to developed a caste based experience and documented lived realities through family archives. The work was then exhibited as an audio-visual and spatial interactive exhibition and as an outcome of that shewas able to collaborate with ASAP connect – online journal for south asian image makers creating knowledge database on certain caste narratives and her own art practice. Apart from being a storyteller, she has collaborated with Unisense (IOT startup – project Zentrail) and become the chief researcher on user research, mapping and testing for the stakeholders in Ahmedabad. Supriya has relentlessly tried to develop her skillsets and be more of a generalist, by utilising research driven approaches layered with behavioral science, narrative building and visual ethnography to introduce multidimentional micro solutions for complex problems instead of relying on simple macro interventions as band aids. At UID she hopes to learn inclusive approaches to knowledge creation & culture sensitive education systems and contribute to make learning processes immersive and assertive. |
