We accommodate two major modules focusing on the needs of the current trend statement of the markets and how design can evolve with each new curriculum for the craft and the craftsmen across the country’s latitude and longitudes.

The Fashion DesigThe Lifestyle Accessory Design programme builds competency in you to take on challenges of a rapidly developing industry, markets of neo-luxury products and consumers who aspire for ever-changing lifestyle. The programme is structured to inculcate various aspects of design as a value addition tool and the way design operates at various levels such as aesthetics, markets, management, strategic as well as technology. The program deals with products such as Timewear, precious metal adornment, Leather goods & accessories, Footwear, Glassware, Eyewear, Metalware and Headgear accessories.n programme enables you to develop skills & knowledge starting from concept to production, learning drawing, draping, pattern-making, garment construction, and fabric manipulation with traditional as well as contemporary techniques.

Your design will be guided by social & environmental imperatives to create innovative, ethical, and responsible fashion. The programme offers an integrated approach through multi-disciplinary contextual, theoretical, conceptual, and forward-looking perspectives to established firms and frequently launch their own collections.

  • Drawing, rendering, form studies and product development are the core subjects in Lifestyle & Accessories Design studies.
  • History of body ornamentation is aimed to understand the relation between body and ornamentations and create deeper understanding for body adornment.

Students graduating from this course are professionals who can become product designer, brand manager, design manager, product development manager, toy designer, stylists, visual merchandiser, design of costume jewellery, leather goods, giftware, tableware, watches, bags, footwear and handicrafts researchers for government projects/ boutiques/entrepreneurs or individual / freelance designers.

At UID, students of jewelry design are encouraged to think creatively and develop their own style using materials and alternative materials to create rings, neck pieces, earrings, bracelets and more. Students are encouraged to learn every step in the process of jewelry making—right from designing to the final production. The course involves lessons on the concepts, planning and the practical aspects of jewellery design.
The course on Ceramic Design will give you a solid introduction into the core ceramic techniques and materials. The course provides a design-led creative experience of ceramics with a broad subject context and brings a culture of responsible design to the study of ceramics. Students get the opportunity to learn about an ancient craft while applying their unique, contemporary designs to the process. They also discover ways to integrate their designs into the humble clay and mould it into products of their liking and expression.
As part of this course, students acquire knowledge of the working phases of leather as a product, with hand and the use of machines. Students are expected to learn the entire process of leather design and production, including cutting, drilling, assembling, sewing and finishing. The course is designed to teach students the elements of the leather crafts. UID’s learning approach teaches students the basic framework of knowledge that is very practical.

The structure of the programme aims to create a fine balance between theoretical and practical education. The programme focuses on the basics of the field of design while stressing on the possibilities to practice specific skills and knowledge related to specific courses.  The programme takes you through a facet of creative skills required to excel in your chosen field. During the course, students will be guided and mentored by experts while being given the opportunity to interact with industry professionals. The learning outcomes are assessed at the end of each semester to ensure that students have a firm understanding of the latest concepts before moving on to emerging trends.
