The M. Des Integrated is a fully interdisciplinary course that allows students to pick up pathway-based skills through a set of inter-departmental electives. The course is interspersed with innovation, and sustainability centric labs and studios focused on humanising design. This course has the highest industry exposure along with experiential & live projects. The student takes a journey from design basics to critical understanding moving on to skill-based making, experimental labs followed by exposure to legal & managerial ecosystems of design. The course is heavily focused on interdisciplinary research combining self-initiation, collaboration & industry context.
In the future, interdisciplinary skill sets will increasingly be the norm rather than the exception and the UID Integrated Masters program provides a platform to develop these vital skills by engaging with evolving futures and emerging perspectives.
Evolved through a deep dive into emerging collaborative approaches, UID – M. Des Integrated incorporates the best pedagogical practices of design education. The program is focused on developing design leaders for the future with a holistic understanding of the design process and ecology.
The student’s learning journey is mapped to develop an understanding of design technology design management & research aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills. The refined mix of making, managing & researching mapped on to collaboration, technology and sustainability will help our students to resolve complex design problems of the future.
*Pathway electives (1-6) are designed for students to pick and pursue their majors. These electives will be curated to offer the best core skills + concepts in their focus areas. They will be offered by the Schools of Fashion (within the subjects MDes), Industrial (within the subjects MDes), Communication (within the subjects MDes), and Interior Design (within the subjects MDes), and will be progressive in nature. Students have to stick to the pathway chosen.
Transdisciplinary Electives (1-2) are designed for students to pick up minors outside their chosen pathways. These electives will also be offered by Schools of Business, Law and Mass Communication. Students are encouraged to stick to their chosen minors and pick maximum credit points.
The M. Des. Integrated Masters graduate has the professional skills necessary to undertake broad-ranging leadership positions in the fields of- Design Product Conceptualization, Design development, Entrepreneurship, human-centric design, either as Design heads, Design strategists, Information architects, Team leaders, Communication / Visualization experts entrepreneurs and other related positions. The programme instils professional competence to undertake complex multidisciplinary design projects by leading design interventions in socio-cultural and functional innovations, design development and planning.
