M.Design Fashion Design

The Masters programme in Fashion Design is conceptualized to prepare innovative professionals possessing a creative vision and aesthetic sensibilities with strategic, practical and critical skills to take on responsible roles in the fashion industry. The graduates will develop a distinctive edge and identity through diverse projects and an intra-disciplinary pedagogy with a focus on tactility, form and image through comprehensive inputs and specialization in textiles, bespoke fashion and fashion styling. The impetus is to prepare future leaders who are adaptive, digitally savvy, effective communicators, responsive, dynamic and have a research oriented attitude and critical mind-set to create a niche for themselves in the multi-faceted fashion industry.

The Fashion Design programmes at UID enable budding design aspirants to explore and discover their individualistic aesthetic philosophy by creating innovative, ethical and responsible design professionals for a fast-evolving fashion industry. All courses are designed to develop cutting edge product, process and technical understanding narrated by a multidisciplinary and original fashion image and language.  The students have the resources and contextual space to develop a macro perspective of all aspects of fashion including textiles, styling and merchandising whilst augmenting micro expertise through choice based modules in chosen areas such as sustainable fashion, craft based design, denim, lingerie and intimate wear, couture, Knitwear among many others.

200 - 250 The core subjects of fashion design course at UID are design basics, history of fashion, fundamentals of fashion design, fashion trends research, fashion studio, craft and culture, materials in fashion, entrepreneurship and design business management.
The salary of a fashion designer depends on the location, hands-on experience, performance, skill set, and company. It is an excellent career option with good prospects and handsome salaries. Students can even launch their own clothing brand.
200 - 250 We don’t offer diploma in accessory fashion designing at UID. Our M Des in Fashion Styling & Communication is ideal for students who wish to pursue a career in fashion styling. Graduate students with 50% marks from any discipline can apply for the course.
200 - 250 At UID, the duration of UG and PG courses in fashion designing is four years and two years respectively. Admission into the UG course requires completion of minimum 10+2 with minimum 50% (any stream). For PG course, students shall complete Bachelor’s degree with minimum 50%. Clearance of design aptitude test is mandatory.
