M.Design Interior & Experience Design

The Masters in Interior Experience Design programme creates a unique environment for its post-graduate students to reflect upon their own practice and to engage with students from their own as well as other disciplines.

Department of Interior Design
The Department of Interior Design at UID views design as a cultural practice that fosters critical thinking and situates it’s pedagogy in relation to contemporary conversation of the profession within the global context. The Interior Design programme, both at the Bachelors and Masters level is focused on promoting a deeper understanding of the potential and actual value of the spaces we inhabit.

Why study Interior & Experience Design at UID?

  • The focus of the programme is on enabling students to create meaningful spatial experiences through human-centred activity learning grounded in research.
  • Students engage with projects ranging in proposals for exhibition and retail environments, service and brand design, work and living environments and hospitality.
  • The programme culminates in an individual graduation project as a demonstration of the cumulative student learning and insights gained throughout the programme and an internship which enables them to align themselves with the contemporary practices of the profession.
  • Access to our infrastructure and multidisciplinary workshops that support scale model-making and prototype building for different design briefs.

The Interior Design department at UID conducts various workshops for students in the campus where they get to explore CNC machines, lathe machine, 3D printer, computer-aided machines, hand drills, table drills, table saw cutter, thermocol modelers, grinding machines. They work with different materials like wood, metal, glass, and hardware in these workshops to come up with interesting elements like furniture and lights. Students thus get to explore their creative ideas and construct them to reality by working hands-on in workshops inside the campus with workshop people.
