Abroad Chapter Alumni Meet

Date: January 22, 2022

Karnavati University Alumni Association organized the Abroad Chapter Alumni Meet on January 22, 2022. A total of 25 people joined the event. Dr. Tamanna, Prof. Vivek and Prof. Nishtha gave the opening remarks. Dr. Tamanna welcomed all alumni in her poetic way. All of them emphasized on the importance of staying connected with the alma mater. There was a feeling of nostalgia when these school representatives interacted with the Alumni. Dr. Juhi Shah, the representative of Abroad Chapter, shared her journey and experience of moving abroad. She also shared her vision for the Abroad Chapter and her future plans. Dr. Juhi graduated in 2015 from Karnavati School of Dentistry and is currently a Dental student at Columbia University. Some of the alumni, Dr. Saurin, Ms. Palak, Mr. Parshwa, Mr. Ronak, Mr. Dwijen, Dr. Siddharth shared their experiences during their college days, their professional updates and extended their support and guidance to whosoever is willing to move abroad for studies or work. They also emphasized the importance of having such networking events and requested KUAA to conduct such events more frequently. Dr. Saurin, Dentist at Park Street Dental, Duluth (USA) shared his memories of Karnavati School of Dentistry as the founding batch of the college back then. He shared his journey of pursuing higher studies and mentioned the fact that Karnavati University is a very renowned university in the USA. Parshwa Shah, 2018 UID graduate and currently working with furniture design company crate and barrel in Charlotte (USA) shared insights on the processes to settle abroad, either for higher studies or jobs. He also guided on how to choose a university for higher studies, what courses should be focused on, and the importance of references. Palak Oswal, 2021 UId graduate and currently pursuing Creative Direction at Polimoda in Florence city (Italy) shared her experiences on her journey of getting admitted to the college, different challenges she faced and how others should plan their higher education journey. Raunak Bhatia, 2019 UWSL graduate and currently studying at Fanshawe College in Ontario (Canada) shared his college days experience- lectures, garba night, cultural events and about his program of studies. Dwijen Pandya, 2019 UWSL graduate and currently studying at Sheridan college in Ontario (Canada) spoke about the importance of making good friends and connections. He urged the current students to study well, enjoy the college life to the fullest and make great connections. Dr. Siddharth Jogi, 2017 KSD graduate and currently working as aData Analyst for a clinical trial with Harvard Medical School spoke about his aspirations to get into a Dental school and thanked KSD faculty for their constant support. Such meet-ups are very helpful for alumni to grow their networks professionally and personally. We would like to thank everyone who joined and hope to see them and others in person very soon.



GLOBAL ALUMNI LECTURE SERIES- By Nishtha Agrawal (Assistant Profesor of Law)

Date: 29TH SEPTEMBER 2021

Final Notable Alumni for the Global Alumni Lecture series was Adv. Mohammad Vohra, an alumnus of UWSL and an expert on Cryptocurrency and the legal framework around it. He was introduced by the Anchor Kashish. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Pandey (Associate Professor – Law) introducing the topic and opening the floor for the guest speaker. Adv. Mohammad Vohraintroduced the students to the world of cryptocurrency and discussed the Cryptocurrency Draft Bill, 2019 in detail. The session proved to be extremely insightful and engaging as students learnt about the legislative framework as well as the importance of digital currency and asked various questions. Alumni Adv. Priyank Pandya talked to students candidly on the importance of in-depth discussions about the law with peers as well as faculty.. Rahul Upadhyay spoke on the significance of alumni lecture series and the relationship between our alumni and the college. Prof. Nishtha Agrawal ( Convenor – Alumni Relations) delivered the vote of thanks expressing gratitude to our Alumni as well as the entire team for organizing a successful series.



Alumni Association Ahmedabad Chapter Networking Event

Date: October 22nd, 2021

Alumni committee of UWSL along with the Alumni Association of Karnavati University along organised a networking event, The Ahmedabad Chapter Networking Event 2021 on October 22nd, 2021. The goal of this event was to bring our alumni back to school and have them connect with our current students. The students who were present at the event benefited from the interaction since it gave them a better understanding of the practicality of the field they wanted to pursue. Our renowned alumni were able to demystify the real world for current students as graduates. The event was a success because alumni were able to connect with current students and develop networks. It also aided students in developing strong communication and networking abilities. Thank you to the Alumni committee students who volunteered to assist makes the event a success.

GLOBAL ALUMNI LECTURE SERIES- By Nishtha Agrawal ( Assistant Professor of Law)

The Alumni Committee of UWSL along with Alumni Association and Karnavati University Student Governing Council have organized the Global Alumni Lecture Series. Adv. Monil Shah, an alumnus of UWSL was invited to deliver the lecture.He was introduced by the anchor Manav Kothari. The welcome address was delivered by Dr.Shruti Choudhary (Director, Alumni Association) introducing the aim of the series and the speaker.Adv. Monil Shah introduced the students to the world of investigation and its many complexities. The session proved to be extremely insightful as students learnt about the process of investigation and the steps that need to be fulfilled to reach trial. Prof. Nishtha Agrawal (Convenor – Alumni Relations) delivered vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to our guests as well the student governing council, administrative staff as well as volunteers.

Alumni Talk - by - Nishtha Agrawal, Assistant Professor of Law

Date: 24th August 2022 Time : 2.00 PM – 3.00 PM

On the occasion of welcoming the new batch of 2022-2027 of UWSL in the Induction Programme, Unitedworld School of Law through its Alumni Committee organised Alumni Talk in which seniors synchronise with their juniors. This event aims for our prestigious Alumni to interact with freshers and share their experience and journey with the Karnavati University. Our notable Alumni, Sagar Modi and Vishwa Shah were invited to interact and share their journey with new members of UWSL. Dr. Shruti Chowdhary, Assistant Director, Alumni Relations of KU welcomed our prestigious Alumni and freshers by sharing her wisdom and emphasising on connection of new students with graduated students by learning from their experience and exposure.
Our Alumni, Ms. Vishwa Shah, currently working in Singh & Co. and an IPR enthusiast, advised the freshers to work hard, grasp every internship opportunities that they can get, focusing on what they want and exploring various fields of law. She encouraged the freshers that they can conquer any subject with enough hard work and time. Vishwa Shah in the event, "You have to be consistent with what you want to do. Might not like it at the moment but in future you may come to like it."
Our Alumni, Adv. Sagar Modi, currently working in C.N Modi Advocates & Associates, told an encouraging story to our freshers of always seeing thing in positive sense and advised the freshers to be strong to face the world and try to make right choices. Sagar Modi in the event, "It's on you how you do your work and how much opportunities you take. Develop a winning attitude, learn as much as you can, study hard and gain experience." In the closing ceremony, Prof. Nishtha Agarwal gave vote of thanks to our Alumni for sharing their experience in college as well in the outside world with the freshers and emphasised that even after completion of 5 years the students are still attach to college and are as much part of the college as before.

The Alumni Committee of Unitedworld School of Law along with Alumni Association and Karnavati University Student Governing Council have organized the Global Alumni Lecture Series. This Series is aimed at fostering stronger relationships between the Alumni and the college. First Notable Alumni for the series was Adv. GrishmaBrahmbhatt, an alumnus of UWSL and a leading expert on corporate law with Master's degree from University of Law, London. She was introduced by the Anchor Manav Kothari. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Ayaz Ahmad (Dean in charge UWSL) introducing the aim of the series and the speaker. Dr .ShrutiChoudhary (Director, Alumni Association) spoke on the importance of a strong relationship with our Alumni and the benefits of leveraging networking. Adv. GrishmaBrahmbhatt introduced the students to the world of Corporate Governance. The session proved to be extremely insightful as students learnt about structures in India as well of other countries such as the US, Germany and Japan.. Finals of the Debate Competition held by the Alumni Committee, UWSL

Date: November 26, 2021

A debate tournament for law students was arranged by the UWSL Alumni Committee and the Alumni Association. The finals were held on November 26th 2021. Neel Lakhani, Monil Shah, and Antriksh Kapadia, three of our famous graduates, were invited to judge the tournament. On the topic of 'Media trials: Breaking Rules for Breaking News,' two finalists battled against each other. Our Chief Guest Justice (Retd.) Mr. Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaveri (Former Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court) and our Dean Dr. P Lakshmi congratulated our graduates.
The final round took place at the auditorium of Karnavati University's D block. The whole event was a success since many viewpoints were expressed and the audience enjoyed watching the finalists' outstanding debate skills. Much applause greeted both finalists as they presented compelling arguments for and against the matter.

Global Alumni Lecture Series- by Ms. Nishtha Agrawal

Date: 23rd March 2022- 24th March 2022

Unitedworld School of Law in association with Alumni Association organized the 'Global Alumni Lecture Series' (GOALs) On 24th March 2022, we had our second session that was conducted by Adv. Henil Shah. He is an esteemed alumni with an LLM degree from Queen Mary London. Currently, he is practicing at the High Court of Gujarat.
The session was started by Dr Ayaz Ahmed, with a welcome address where he appreciated the work of the Dr.Sharuti Choudhary , Prof. Nishtha Agrawal and Rahul Upadhyay and mentioned how the sessions are beneficial for young law aspirants.
Following this, Mr. Henil Shah started his interactive session on the topic 'Drafting of a Memorial'. He guided the students through the process of drafting and elucidated the contents of the memorial. He also emphasized to use latin terms and legal language while drafting a memorial to look more professional and intellectual.
He further pointed out that prayer is the most crucial part of a memorial and how drafts get rejected solely on the basis of prayer. Lastly, making a proper memorial with all the citations and adherence to rule book is important for any mooter. He ended his session by inviting some questions from the audience.
Dr. Shruti Chaudhary, Assistant Director, Alumni Association praised Adv. Henil Shah for conducting such a wonderful session and said only logics can work when you represent it in a regional manner. Lastly, Prof. Nishtha Agrawal (Convenor- Alumni Relations) concluded the session with a vote of thanks.


Engagement of Alumni in Intra Moot by Prof.Nishtha Agrawal

Date: 24th, 25th September 2021

Unitedworld School of Law in association with Alumni Association and Karnavati University Moot Court Society organized the 7th UWSL Intra Moot Court Competition on September 24 and 25, 2021.
Neel Lakhani, Antrix Kapadiya, Mitrajeet Shukla, Ujjwal Sareen, Grishma Bhrambhatt, Shrushti Patel, Nishka Prajapati, and Mohit Mathur, among our notable alumni, were invited to judge the competition.
Our Alumni made the competition more intense and thorough by asking the competitors questions based on a greater understanding of the law. Participants received clarification on intricate elements of the law as well as practical advice from their alumni. Our alumni also provided constructive criticism on the candidates' oral rounds, as well as writing and research requirements.
As part of the moot court competition, both our students and alumni enjoyed a busy but productive day. We appreciate our Alumni for assisting, guiding, and inspiring their juniors who will be in their footsteps in a few years.

Engagement of Alumni in IPR Awareness week

Date: (28th June 2021- 3rd July 2021)

IPR Awareness Week was held, and two alumni, Adv. Neel Lakhani and Adv.Divij Mehta, were involved. Dr. Shruti Choudhary (Assistant Director-Alumni Relations) extended a warm welcome and delivered a special address on Alumni Engagement. Adv. Neel Lakhani spoke about what copyright is, its definition, meaning, and the various classes and types of copyright, such as copyright as literal work, creative work, computer programming, dramatic work, musical work, cinematography, and sound recording. Following that, he covered compensation and fines for copyright violations under civil law, as well as incarceration and fines for violations under criminal law. He then went on to explain how digitization and digitalization differ from one another. Digitalization is a technique that alters business models and offers new income and significant manufacturing prospects by converting analogue data and documents into typical digital data. Super Cassettes Industries v Myspace Inc. &Anr and Disney Enterprises v. Kim Cartoon and others are two important copyright cases described by Adv. Neel Lakhani. Finally, we examined many concerns with copyright in the digitalized world, such as large amounts of data, borderless internet, a lack of knowledge and information, conventional vs. current rules, and so on. Protecting Well-Known Trademarks: Preventing Registrability of Identical or Similar Trademarks was discussed by Adv. Divij Mehta. He also spoke about the visual and phonetic similarities of trademarks, as well as a study of Indian legal patterns. Ms. Nishtha Agrawal (Assistant Professor – UWSL) delivered the vote of thanks.


The Lawyers Association Networking Meet

Date: February 23, 2022

Karnavati University Alumni Association organized the Lawyers Association Networking Meet on February 23, 2022. Alumni from different cities, students, and faculty members joined the meeting.
Dr. Sharuti Chaudhary, Head, Alumni Relations- Karnavati University, welcomed all the attendees and shared insights on the various initiatives the department is taking for its alumni. She also shared the significance of such networking meets and why people should come forward and take the lead.
Prof. Dr. P Lakshmi, Dean addressed the attendees, emphasized the importance of staying connected with their alma mater by sharing per personal incident. She mentioned how the university acts as a link between its students and alumni.
Our distinguished alumni, Adv. Aarushi Desai and Adv. Shyam Shah shared their experiences. Adv. Aarushi is practicing at Family Courts of Gujarat. She spoke about her passion for going into litigation and why people should follow their passion. She also mentioned that having a legal background might help a bit but ultimately it's the person's hard work that makes him/her a successful lawyer.
Adv. Shyam is practicing at Gujarat High Court and NCLT Ahmedabad. He is a first-generation lawyer and emphasized the importance of hard work and networking to succeed.
Alumni insisted on having more internship opportunities for the students.

Such meetups are important to build connections and work in unison towards achieving our goals.

Global Alumni Lecture Series - by Ms. Nishtha Agrawal

Unitedworld School of Law in collaboration with Alumni Association organized the 'Global Alumni Lecture Series' (GOALs)
On 24th March 2022, we had our third session of the series on the topic- 'Mooting Skills' which was conducted by Miss. Mansi Chhaya, Senior Research Associate, Redbricks Education Foundation. She is currently pursuing her LLM in Business Laws from Gujarat University. A welcome appraisal was given by Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, Assistant Dean UWSL, where he shared his experience of practicing in the court. Rahul Upadhyay gave the welcome address. Following this, Miss. Mansi Chhaya started her session with a quote from Benjamin Franklin 'Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.'
In her lecture, she described the meaning of moot and how it evolved. She talked about the main objectives of skill and profile building and further discussed the purpose, elements and types of moot courts. She focused mainly on the skills like reading, researching, writing, articulating, court manners, communication skills and guided our students how these are helpful during mooting.
Dr. Shruti Choudhary gave a special address and appreciated the Team. While ending the session, a vote of thanks was given by Prof. Nishtha Agrawal Assistant Professor (Convenor- Alumni Relations) where she praised Miss. Mansi for being so good at her work and for being an inspiration for the young law aspirants.


National Moot Court Competition

Date: 28th - 30th April 2022

Unitedworld School of Law organized National Moot Court Competition from April 28th to 30th, 2022. It was a matter of great pride when Hon'ble Justice Mr. Kalpesh Satyendra Jhaven, Former Chief Justice of Odisha High Court and Hon'ble Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Supreme Court of India graced our event at the Valedictory Ceremony of the National Moot Court Competition.
Some of our esteemed alumni got the fortune to judge the Prelims and Quarter final rounds. The UWSL and the Alumni Committee express their thanks to our prestigious alumni, Ujjwal Sareen ( Batch 2014-19), Heer Patel (Batch 2014-19), Anmol Shetty (Batch 2015-20), Divij Mehta (Batch 2015-20), Pavan Vyas (Batch 2014-19), Nisarg Rawal (Batch 2015-20) and Shivani Vora (Batch 2014-19) for being part of this momentous occasion and giving their valuable time and inputs to the participants.



Preliminary Round of the Debate Competition held by the Alumni Committee, UWSL

Date: 24th November, 2021

The Legal Debate tournament was successfully conducted by the UWSL Alumni Committee in partnership with the Karnavati University Alumni Association. The tournament helped participants develop excellent speaking abilities, research skills, and the capacity to deliver valid arguments. The preliminary and semi-final rounds took place at the UWSL building, while the final round took place at the D Block Auditorium. Our distinguished Alumni served as Judges at the Debate Competition, and their understanding of the arguments presented by the participants was unquestionable, which aided the participants in growing and flourishing, and their insights aided the students in developing public speaking skills. Dr. Arun Kumar (Assistant Dean) of the Unitedworld School of Law presented the alumni with awards. The event was successfully organized by students of Alumni Committee. Prof. Dr. P Lakshmi ( Dean – UWSL), Dr, Arun Kumar ( Assistant Dean ) and Prof. Nishtha Agrawal ( Convenor – Alumni Relations) were guiding light and motivation behind the organization of such a grand and successful event.



Semi-Finals of the Debate Competition held by the Alumni Committee, UWSL

Date: November 25th, 2021

UWSL's alumni committee, in collaboration with the Alumni Association, hosted a debating tournament. The semi-finals took place on November 25th. Srushti Patel and Ujjwal Sareen, two of our famous alumni, were invited to judge the tournament. Following the preliminary rounds, a total of four teams qualified for the semi-finals.
With the help of our alumni, the Semi-finals were a huge success. Outstanding debating and public speaking abilities were on exhibit.


Global Alumni Lecture Series

Date: 23rd September, 2022

Unitedworld School of Law through its Alumni Committee in association with Alumni Association organised the Global Alumni Lecture Series. On 23rd September, 2022, our prestigious alumni Mr. Shanay Shah was invited to deliver lecture on the topic 'Basics of Art of Mooting. Dr. Shruti Chowdhary, Assistant Director, Alumni Relations of KU welcomed our prestigious Alumni emphasising on importance of Mooting and upcoming transition into the real world . Dr.. Shruti Chowdhary explained that two elements are important to develop personal and professional relationship i.e. learning and networking. First, learning includes knowledge from lectures. To unlearn what you have learned and relearn the new things. Second, networking is branding yourself to others. Learning from the experience of others and then work smartly.."
Our notable alumni, Mr. Shanay Shah, started the lecture and explain to the students that Mooting is the exposure the law school can give the students. That moot courts are depiction of what has actually happened. He then explained the fundamentals of Mooting i.e. approaching a moot problem and presentation in oral rounds. He explained to the students that the law is about knowledge, everyday learning new things. Mooting is not only about oriental skills but also about research and discipline. He advised the students to bring out human or emotive element in the mooting as well. Mr. Shanay Shah in the event, "Moot courts is presenting what is your understanding of the law is not communication what the law is. The judges are going to back you in corner; you are not going to let that happen. Moot courts are always chaos. Don't assume it didn't go well. If you've given the answers, you're better than the opponent team. "
Dr. Arun Kumar Singh( Assistant Dean UWSL) emphasised on taking the guidance from seniors as they are the best teacher. He gave students the Mantra of learning i.e. habit of learning, work hard and no shortcuts. Dr. Arun Kumar Singh in the event, "Winning is immaterial , interaction with outside world will make you realise your position in the world."
In closing ceremony Nishtha Agrawal (Assistant Professor of Law) gave vote of thanks to our Alumni for sharing their knowledge and experience with the students .

Synchro Event by Nishtha Agrawal ( Assistant Professor of Law)

Date: 14th and 15th September 2021

A 'Synchro' event was organised by Unitedworld School of Law in collaboration with the Alumni Association. This was a session where our Alumni interacted with the induction program's freshmen. Neel Lakhani, Mitrajeet Shukla, Antrix Kapadia, Esha Maken, Shivam Dave, and Jash Thakkar, among our distinguished alumni, were invited to connect with their juniors. Our alumni provided them with a glimpse into the world of law school and the possibilities that await them. They also stressed the value of extracurricular activities such as mooting, cultural festivals, and other extracurricular activities in addition to maintaining a solid academic record. The event was a success since it created a strong bond between alumni and freshmen, which will help them network in the future.
We appreciate our Alumni for assisting, guiding, and inspiring their juniors who will be in their footsteps in a few years.



Global Alumni Lecture Series - by Ms. Nishtha Agrawal

UnitedworldSchool of Law in collaboration with Alumni Association, organized the 'Global Alumni Lecture Series' (GOALs). On 23rdMarch 2022 first session that was delivered by Adv. UjjwalSareen, an esteemed alumni and currently practicing before the honorable High Court of Gujarat. At the beginning of the session Dr .Shruti Chaudhary,Assistant Director Alumni association, spoke about how the habits of an individual affects his/her whole behavior and how changing habits thought practicing would help you master any skill on the sub-conscious level as well.
After that Adv. UjjwalSareen started his lecture on the topic of 'Basics of Mooting', where he started with the most important facet of mooting- Confidence. He stated how it is important to stay confident in front of judges. He guided our students through the process of mooting which included the selection of team and how to choose your moot team. He stated that compatibility with your moot partners is the most important thing when you participate in any moot.
After that he explained three important steps in mooting. Firstly, a student interested in moot shall be well aware with facts and should be able to identify the problems from the moot proposition. Secondly, thorough and proper research is also important. And last but not the least, making a proper memorial with all the citations and adherence to rule book regarding such things similarly important for any mooter. He concluded by his own experiences as a mooter and how he made mistakes and learned from them.
Then, Adv. Ujjwal Sareen was felicitated by Dr. Sharuti Choudhary, Prof. Nishtha Agrawal and Rahul Upadhyay.
Lastly, Prof. Nishtha Agrawal, Assistant Professor (Convenor – Alumni Relations) concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
