Hiding
Under the snorts of your laughter
The drinks you took after
The dreams you want to chase
The loneliness of the maze.
Running
From the shadows of your past
The nights that didn’t last
The failures you don’t want to admit
The evolution that deems you unfit.
Always under the cover
Unaware, unfazed
Eyes closed as if blinding the world
Masquerade grace.
Sand slipped through the fingers
Nights changed into day
The ball not yet over
What’d you gain at the end of the day?
The money you didn’t make?
Maybe the roar of your laughter
The one where you weren’t fake.
