Sommarøy Island in West Tromsø, around 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Norway wants to declare itself as world’s first time-free zone.
On this island, the sun does not set from May 18 to July 26. The locals experience long polar nights from November to January.
The islanders gathered at a town hall meeting to sign a petition for a time-free zone. On June 13, they submitted a petition bearing all local’s signatures to a Norwegian Member of Parliament.
