This painting depicts the idea of how design
has evolved over a period, changed lifestyles of the people and had an enormous
impact on different design fields. Design is an integral aspect of every field
such as Fashion, accessory, architecture, automobile, graphics, animation, etc.

Center of the painting represents the ‘Vitruvian
man’ inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s most famous drawing. Da Vinci is also
referred to as a ‘Renaissance man’.

Ultimately suggesting the importance of
developing an understanding about human proportion, complete with precise
measurements and elaborated the same into geometrical relationships. The
painting also depicts various other fields and how it has evolved over these
years.

In this painting, I tried depicting the whole
transition & evolution in various fields starting from the past cultures to
current modern times- such as including ‘Mickey Mouse’ a famous cartoon
character created by Walt Disney from the year 1928 to today’s era famous
characters of Avatar, Minions(Despicable Me), etc. which have used innovative
visual effects techniques advancement to adequately portray them. Art forms are
extremely primitive. One can also see how Fashion & makeup styles have
changed tremendously over time.

Cross-cultural, social and historical
influences have exerted a profound impact on fashion design & its styles.
From 18th-century heavy-duty ground sweeping gowns with corsets tightly fitted,
it evolved to short skirts and minimal look at the time of the first world war
in Britain. Later, in the case of India, nationalist feelings swept the whole
country. Rabindranath Tagore suggested having India’s national dress- a current
formal way of wearing a sari came into existence and had gained popularity all
over.

In the field of automobile, starting from the
invention of the wheel to cycle, various carts, etc. where technological
advancements kept happening gradually giving rise to various hi-tech luxury
cars. Similarly, in all fields transitions have taken place at a great pace.

Every Designer, photographer, artist or painter
is concerned ultimately with striking an appropriate balance of parts to the
whole. They are all, in the end, working with proportions and balance in their
works.

Design is the planned way of creating any object,
product, or a system.
