We may often encounter these words- Life, Death and Soul. But what exactly are they? If you are breathing at the moment, it means that you have a life, and if not, it means you are dead. But where then is the soul? Is the soul with us when we are breathing life or does the soul come alive after death? It is very confusing, isn’t it? Our great scripture, the Bhagavad Gita, talks about the soul as that which is “imperceptible and unthinkable, unbreakable, inexplicable, and can be neither burned nor dried.”It is also described as consciousness. Without the soul and consciousness, the body is lifeless, a lump of mass, and of no use. So it brings us to the conclusion that life without a soul is lifeless and dead. No one knows what happens to the soul after death, but in reality if a person is vibrant and kicking, his life has soul in it: if not, then the person is dead.
