After 34 years we finally have a change in our education policy. Almost two generations have been studying the same old format which according to many teachers and educationists was outdated and badly needed a change.
The new policy looks to be much more aligned with the changing environment of today and takes a step towards modern education. Like the model of a few other countries, more focus is given on practical aspects of learning and the freedom for a student to choose only those subjects in which he is interested. It is very early to comment whether it is a successful move or not but we should all welcome this decision to make our education policy in line with the rest of the world so that our students can have a better chance to compete on an international level.
