The social media walls are now flooded with messages of positivity. In such a horrible time, what else can people do to show that they are there for each other? Some are re-posting their favourite photos, others sharing easy to cook recipes. There is another group of people too. They call these people, who indulge in spreading positivity in such a time, to be Quixotic. Who are these people? They don’t drown in negativity, but find the excess interest in spreading positivity, in such a time of horror, to be something similar to the chivalrous acts of the character Don Quixote. The word ‘Quixotic’ is derived from the work of Miguel de Cervantes, where the title character became a Knight in order to be there by the helpless and take care of the deprived. With the evolution of the English language ‘Quixotic’ has come to be used to refer to people who are unrealistically optimistic and comically positive towards life.
