Teaching is the only profession who creates any other profession in the world or we can say that teacher is the mother of all the professions. But the teachers which are teaching the new generation are capable enough to create the future of the country like India? Are they updated with their subjects and the new research which have done in their subjects recently?
The obvious answer of these two questions would be “NO”. The reason why the answer of these 2 questions is “NO” is because in our education system there are many teachers who are not updated with their subjects and the research which has done in their subjects. Subjects like accounts, law, physics, chemistry, biology etc. are the subjects which need to be understand and updated with time because the research which have been done 5 to 10 years before has nothing to do with today and teaching the youth today. I think becoming an expert or expertise in your subject is most important thing and most interesting thing when you will share these experience, thoughts your views on current topics or problem. It will enhance the skill of teacher and knowledge of students. If our newbies will get to understand the new issues they can come up with solutions and we can give a better shape to this country. Teaching is a very esteemed profession as it creates the future of the country. Students are able to achieve a high position in life and turn out to become doctors, engineers, Lawyers, etc. It’s because of the excellent education system.
Conducting a yearly examination for teachers is one way to solve the problem. If you will start taking a yearly examination of teachers it will create a pressure on the teachers to learn new things, research about their subject, and get update yourself with their subjects. It is a human nature that we don’t do things out of our interest until and unless it is necessity to do something forcefully. Taking the examination of teachers doesn’t mean that we are doubting their experience or knowledge but it’s only purpose is to make teachers/professors read about their subjects. The new research, the new ideas, the new opportunity in their subject area. The problems of the society, opportunities, knowledge, scenarios are totally changed. If our teachers/professors will share the information and discuss the problems which exist in the society. It will be going to provide them knowledge and real value of education system.
Teachers should continuously improve in knowledge in their subject on a daily basis. They must commit to advancement of their subject. If a teacher lacks this commitment, they may not be suited for the profession of teaching. Teachers should also give exams with the students. It will make teachers revise lessons properly and update their knowledge and research on a regular basis. It will motivate the teachers to review the course of the subject area properly which will lead to better quality education. It will give impact to the teachers who have just mugged up lectures. The role of a teacher should be to inspire their students in life as William Arthur Ward said that “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.”
