Students from semester-6 of Lifestyle Accessory Design- Deshna, Sejal, and Nausheen, went to the Dumad Village Beading Craft Cluster. We learned about the history of the craft, the main artisan was Veera Ben in the cluster. Their primary language is Kutchi. To buy raw materials for their craft, heads of households go to Bhuj. They make orders based on the buyer’s requests and customization requested. Customers come from Bhuj and other regions of India to buy their crafted products. We tried making the swatch in order to explore and learn to make their traditional motifs and patterns in the best way.The major goals were to completely document the art of beading, record the historical changes that have taken place, and record the raw materials utilized, techniques used, motifs used, and the significance of color in their products. Experience and a great deal of patience are essential for creating beadwork crafts.
