A
Hong Kong ice cream shop is now offering a “tear gas” flavoured ice cream to
show solidarity with the pro-democracy protestors. The shop owner introduced
such an odd flavour as a way to inspire the citizens to persist and not lose
faith in the protests. Hong Kong was flooded with protestors in June 2019 over
a proposed extradition bill which would permit Hong Kong citizens to be tried
for alleged crimes in China. A customer said, “”It tastes like tear gas.
It feels difficult to breathe at first, and it’s really pungent and irritating.
It makes me want to drink a lot of water immediately.”
