I was attending a webinar like a lot of other professors and teachers during this lockdown period. And it made me think a lot about the current situation. Its sad that the covid-19 situation has brought us all to this dull void where there is hardly much happening, we are home and virtual learning has taken its pace. Everyone is suddenly expected to learn and teach online. Or rather lets say- teaching and learning remotely. Something that neither the teacher or the student has done before. And its difficult to adjust to the new normal, no matter whatever we preach others but the fact cannot be ignored that this is a difficult situation. Many students attended online assessments or will be submitting them in the next few weeks. This is a simple suggestion to all those students who want to avoid copy-paste aka plagiarism and gain knowledge out of the learning that happens in process. There is a simple rule of communication called LSRW; many of you already know this and have learnt it but for others- lemme pen it down.
L- Listening. Listen to what your professors are saying. Listen to the examples and experiences shared in online class. Remember, you learned your mother-tongue (language) only by listening to your family members while growing up.
S- Speaking. Speak about it , discuss it in the online class. Ask questions, clarify your doubts. Be double-sure by talking and informal sharing with friends in the online classroom. Share your own experiences and knowledge.
R- Reading. Read through the notes shared by the professor or read the books, read researches that support it, read case studies; case studies actually help you learn, understand and remember the concepts much better. No matter how much you love a song, until you didn’t read the sub titles you might have been lip-syncing a wrong word.
W- Writing. Write what you learned. Describe how you feel about the concepts and subjects. Many of the students have a different perspective and would like to put it down in words.
Writing and reading what you wrote around the assessment time will help you a lot. While reading for exams, you will read your notes and never be confused with the concepts. You will recollect how you connected it with various examples and re-learn the concepts. This will help you gain marks. Every tutor/educator loves original work of writing.
