It was around 5.30 in the afternoon, not sunny but humidity was at its peak. Hot winds blew and touched my face as soon as I stepped out of my house wearing a capri and a crop top, with my phone in my hand. Summers in crowded cities are extreme. Even then the people of Mumbai are accustomed to a temperature of 40 degrees and more.
I carefully walked across the street observing the work in progress of a metro station. The crane, which was almost the height of a 7-storey building seemed to touch the sky. I witnessed the workers carrying huge iron rods, all sweaty by the end of the day. Walking further ahead was an eye-catching hair styling salon (named- Lookout), always lit up with enthusiastic lighting to create a spark in the eye of the spectators. The unisex parlor had a creative logo with a male and a female pictogram in the two O’s of its name. Moving ahead two buildings, I always get a reflex of watching the Pomeranian dog, who is always there peeping out of the window.
Going ahead I crossed the main road over the zebra- crossing, waiting for the traffic to stop, where even minutes felt like hours. And finally came the shaded lane enclosed with trees, what a relief…
And there was my friend waiting outside the entrance to the garden.
